Welcome to Kathmandu! After your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel by one of our representatives. You will most probably feel delighted when strolling around the vibrant streets of Thamel.
Today you will see two of the most famous sights in Kathmandu: the temples Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Boudhanath, is the world’s largest stupa with 36 meters, situated about 6 km east of the center of Kathmandu. The design of the stupa is really fascinating, with hundreds of prayer wheels and 108 small images of Buddha all around. As you enter from the hustling main street, you will feel the peace and spiritual energy of this place.
The world heritage site Pashupatinath is one of the most famous Hindu temples in the world. Dedicated to Lord Shiva with its golden pagoda style roofing and richly carved silver doors, and situated on the bank of the holy Bagmati River, cremation processes of the Hindu body are happening regularly. This is a very emotional procedure, yet it offers another perspective on the cycle of life.
Now you will get a chance to learn a lot about Nepali people, culture, and terrain during this ride; Lunch will be provided at a break on the way.
Pokhara, the Lake City, is the third largest city in Nepal. It takes around 6 hours by bus to get there. Pokhara offers a variety of different trekking and other activities and is really famous for its stunning view over the Himalayan range and gorgeous lakes. It is also famous for activities like boating, trekking, rafting, and thrilling adventurous sports like Paragliding or Zip Lining.
Today you start your trek to Pothana, which takes you through the beautiful villages like Gurung, Dhampus and to a viewpoint, Australian Camp, from which you have the most beautiful view of the Himalayas. From Pothana, which is also one of the starting points for the Annapurna circuit, it is possible to have spectacular views of Annapurna and Macchapuchhre mountain range. Your adventure into the Himalayas has begun.
The way to Deurali today will take you on the route of the famous Annapurna circuit for a bit but later will take a trail off the beaten track that heads to the east. Upon reaching the forest camp, you will have chances of encountering wild live, such as monkeys, deer, leopards, and many birds. Until you reach the camp, views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massif greet you.
The destination of the day is High camp. You ascend through dense Rhododendron and Juniper forests, and even though the steep trek is challenging, you will feel excited as you are now closer to your destination. Upon arriving at High Camp, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre, the Annapurna range, the valley of the Annapurna Base camp, and your destination Mardi Himal.
Today you are going to reach the Mardi Himal Base camp at 4500m. You will rise before dawn to have a stunning sunrise view from High camp. The ascension now will get more challenging due to narrow, rocky trails. But this is nothing compared to the feeling when you will reach the base camp of Mardi Himal. The Lophophorus will hover around you and you will be amazed as you get closer to the giant Himalayas in front of you.
Having accomplished your goal, you will descend to Sidhing, a beautiful village, at 1280 m. Today is spent descending for at least 7 hours. On your last day in the Himalayas, you will have the opportunity to experience the genuine countryside of Nepal.
Today you trek back to Pokhara. The path climbs up to the beautiful village of Lumre where you will take a ride to Pokhara. There you will have enough time to relax and refresh yourself after days of strenuous hikes in the mountains. This is also the time to say goodbye to the trekking crew who have been with you in the mountains.
Pokhara offers adventure as well as lots of leisure activities. Today is yours to indulge in whatever you like. Strolling for a stroll around Phewa Lake is totally worth doing it. You can also mountain bike around the city or through the bumpy roads in the surrounding hills. If you like it a little more exciting, you can also watch the city from the bird’s perspective by paragliding above the lake city. Or if you want to relax during boating on Lake Phewa or want to visit the Tal Barahi temple in the middle of the lake is totally up to you.
The reflection of Mount Fishtail in the lake while different species of fish swimming in the water, is all about Pokhara. You can also hike to Devi’s fall, the Bat or Mahendra cave, and a Tibetan refugee camp, which are places of interest never to miss out on when you are in Pokhara.
After a successful trek to Mardi Himal with the beautiful sights of the Himalayas, you will head back to Kathmandu after breakfast and will stay overnight in a hotel.
In the evening we would gladly invite you to a farewell dinner, which will be provided at a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural dance and music.
After we have transferred you to the airport and said goodbye, we hope that you will reminisce in sweet memories of the Himalayas and the rich nature of Nepal, as well as of the people and their smiles.
