Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal

Welcome to Kathmandu!

Pretty much as soon as you touch down in this magical land at the top of the world, you’ll be eagerly greeted, and then whisked off to your comfy HOTEL IN THE middle of the city.

If time permits you will be guided to the Swayambhunath stupa or famously known as Monkey temple.Swayambhunath sits atop its hill, overlooking most parts of the valley. This is a good place to catch panoramic views of the city.

The site itself has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries. The glory of Kathmandu Valley is said to have started from this point.

Day 2Chobhar -Kritipur, Bungmati Khokana

The small picturesque village of Chobhar overlooking the Bagmati River is just 5 kilometers beyond Thamel. The Chobhar Gorge below is the greater attraction. Alongside is the Jal Vinayak Temple, an important pilgrimage site for the valley residents. Legend has it that the gorge was carved out by a mighty blow of the sword by Manjushree who wanted to drain the lake that filled Kathmandu Valley in ancient times. Even today, the Valley’s waters gush out to the plains beyond the hills through this place. After this you will drive 1 km to the historical town called Kirtipur. Kirtipur a historic city and home to the oldest and largest University named Tribhuwan University.

Kirtipur, an ancient city of Nepal located in the Kathmandu Valley, 5 km south-west of the city of Kathmandu is one of the most famous and religious places to visit. Many people visit this place to not only to see the beauty of nature but also to visit temples. The city was listed as a UNESCO tentative site in 2008.

Kirtipur’s history dates from 1099 A.D. It was part of the territory of Lalitpur at the time of the invasion of the Kathmandu Valley by the Gorkhali king Prithvi Narayan Shah in the 18th century. This site is home to many important historical and religious places like Bagh Bhairab temple which is one of the most popular temples dedicated to God Bhairab in the form of an angry tiger. This god is regarded as the guardian of Kirtipur and ceremonial rituals in relation to the important events of life such as rice-feeding, puberty, marriage and even the construction of houses cannot be done without propitiating this deity in most of the towns and cities of Nepal. Similarly, Chilancho Stupa a Buddhist shrine situated on the southern hill made in the medieval period is one of the most important historical stupas of this region. A Theravada Buddhist monastery built in traditional Thai architectural style situated near the entrance to the city is one of the beautiful places of Nepal.

A popular saying, “Heaven is a myth, Nepal is real” has been heard and believed over the years and it is because of these heritage sites, this sentence stands true to its meaning. Kathmandu valley, housing these beautiful sites has a lot to offer right from JUJU Dhau at Bhaktapur to the local Barfi at Patan to its visitors. These heritage sites over the centuries have seen Nepal grow and have stood with their countrymen as the keepsake left behind by the Kings and Rulers of the Valley. These temples and Durbars reflect the identity of Nepalese people and their glorious past. The sight these places offer are never enough. One cannot place a finger on how and when time passed strolling and taking pictures in these Durbar Squares, each that represent the culture and tradition that Nepalese people come from.

Day 3Budhanilkantha Chitlang

Your day today starts driving approx half hours drive to Budhanilkantha, situated at the foot of the Shivpuri Hills in the northern-most part of the Kathmandu Valley, is about 8 km from the city. The shrine with probably the largest stone statue of Lord Vishnu in Nepal is reclining on a bed of Nagas or serpents in the middle of a small pond. The 5-m long granite image carved out of a single rock dates back to the Lichchhavi period. It is the major festival for the year in celebration of the awakening of Lord Bishnu from his long sleep.

CHITLANG is about 22 KM from Kathmandu in the South West direction. This village is surrounded by beautiful green forest, which consists of more than 160 species of birds and animal. The large green fields are added attraction of Chitlang. There is a big Apple garden with more than thousand apple trees. You are going to enjoy your nights in the cottages which have been constructed recently in between the garden, which provide the excited stay to the tourists.

Day 4Boating – Kulekhani

You will have early morning breakfast and hike down to Indra Sarobar Lake. You will able to do boating in Khulekhani Reservoir, you will have lunch at Kulekhani. And drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 5Panauti

Panauti lies in the eastern part of Kathmandu which is 42 Km from the Kathmandu, People believes that Panauti lies on one single rock. The town is populated by the Newar people. Similarly, the temples, monuments, community shelters can be seen everywhere. The wide courtyards and the remnants of the ancient Durbar square can be seen still in the center of the town.

The major attraction of this village is a typical Tamang village, Dadha Gaun, where a Buddhist Community lives. Here people and animals live together side by side. The walk to Pada Gaun which lies in 2100m is very useful for where the spectacular views of the whole Himalayan range to north and the beautiful green forest of Mahabharat is seen.

Day 6Local Market Farewell dinner

After the pure village and community stay with hiking experience with the amazing landscape view in Panauti, you will drive back to Kathmandu, and start local market tour in Kathmandu.
