At Himalayan Circuit we recognize the importance of becoming a more sustainable player in the travel industry, and we increase our operations in a more responsible manner.
While there are a growing and urgent need for sustainable operating practices in all industries, the travel industry has unquestionably the greatest impact on the physical and cultural environments it uses in its day to day operations. In fact, it has been proven that the social, economic and cultural wellbeing of the people who reside in a particular area is directly influenced by the condition of the physical climate.
That is why the tourism industry needs to take into consideration environmental, economic, and cultural aspects. At Himalayan Circuit we do that and actively take steps to ensure that both our operating practices and purchasing supply chain are being conducted as responsibly as possible, in all three of these crucial areas. We are constantly striving to use environmental resources wisely, respect local cultures, and protect the economic situations of the regions we visit so that we can create a travel experience that will benefit both our valued guests, as well as our generous hosts, which is of utmost importance to us.

This code of conduct contains tips for travelers who want to be more responsible while on vacation; we provide suggestions on how you can act in more environmentally and culturally sensitive ways. Corporate social responsibility & charity is our passion at Himalayan Circuit, not just an obligation. In addition to our efforts to provide ethically responsible and environmentally sustainable tours, we work directly with a local not-for-profit company to give back to the communities we visit. Our goal with this operating practice is to support and sustain the communities we make use of in the regular course of our business and to pave the way for other tour operators in Nepal to do the same.
All our pre-packaged tours contain a community-based experienced component, be it teaching English, working to build a school, engaging in a community gardening project, or a host of other things! In addition, we allocate 3% of the profit from each of our trips to the same local NGO, to help fund its own projects such as livelihood support, sustainable agriculture efforts, clean water initiatives, and educational programs, to name a few.
In the wake of the 2015 earthquake, we have found a particular need for school reconstruction and community development projects, and are directing a large portion of our clients and volunteers to those projects.
With every trip you book with Himalayan Circuit, you are giving valuable financial support to a reputable and responsible local NGO so that it can continue helping Nepal now and in the future – and you are also giving back with your own two hands!
