Description

Himalayas are sacred and believed to be the home of gods. Bhairab Kunda, literally means the lake of lord Shiva signifies the belief among the believers. Whenever Shiva generates anger against the demons or the bad forces, he manifests as Bhairab. The spiritual Hindus and Buddhist make a pilgrimage on the full moon day on the month of Bhadra and take a dip into the lake to wash away their sins and unholy deeds and purify them with the blessing of Bhairab. The day is very important for the shamans of the local areas, as this day is regarded to cleanse them.

As usual the trek passes through the most beautiful landscapes. You will be passing through the ancient settlement of Tamang and Sherpa village areas and which makes the trail worth experiencing the local life and culture. Bhairab kunds trekking trail houses various highland animals like red panda, snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan Black Bear As Bhairab Kunda lies 4200m above the sea level, you get to experience the high land eco-system. The trekking is spectacular as you see the Rolwaling Himalayas ranges; Dorje Lhakpa 6966m, Madiya 6257m , Phurbi Gyachu 6637 m, Jugal Himal and also the Tibetan Himalayas. Along with that you will be getting close to the highland pastures resembling the landscapes of Tibetan Plateau. The trail is adjoining with Tibet.

It is one of newly opened trekking trail, thus it is not as crowded as the other trekking trails in Langtang. The drive to Jalbire from Kathmandu takes around 5 hours in Araniko Highway. We have tried to make the trekking hours around 4-6 hours daily. Having reached Bhairab Kunda on the 7 th day of the trekking, you start to descend down from the another route through Sherpa Village (Gaon). On the final day, you will have an opportunity to plunge into the famous hot springs of Tato Pani and get reenergized from the natural hot bath. The trekking is ideal for those willing to trek to higher altitude and still have time limitations. Himalayan Circuit Team is always there to assist to modify the trek routes to suit your physical level in the available time. Explore the spiritual myths of the Himalayas by visiting the sacred Bhairab Kunda.
