During your journey, you will encounter rare bird species, a diverse natural landscape and charming villages. Many of these settlements are home to the Gurung people, who have managed to maintain their traditional lifestyle. You will get to experience this way of life during your stay in Sikles village. Here, you will be hosted by a local family who will feed you local dishes and teach you local customs, it truly is a fantastic immersive experience.

The landscape here is unique and varied. You will wander through terraced rice fields, dense rhododendron forests and high alpine meadows that are tucked below the impressive Annapurna peaks, sometimes all in one day! The views here are special, often panoramic, always enchanting. You will get up close to some of Nepal’s most famous mountains and mountain ranges including, Annapurna, Mt Fishtail and Lamjung Himal. This Sikles Village Trek is classified as easy to moderate. No technical knowledge is required. The altitude is relatively low, so there is a limited chance of altitude sickness. For beginners, this trek may be a bit of a challenge as the terrain can be a little tricky but it is definitely doable. We would recommend you to undertake a fitness regime prior to starting this trek as this will help you with your stamina and preparedness.

On your first day in Nepal you will be exploring Kathmandu. With 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites, there is a lot to see! On this tour you will visit; the Boudhanath Stupa. Erected in the 14th century, the Stupa is a sacred destination for Buddhists. The monument is used for meditation, worship and for offerings and is a focal point of the area. To represent the all-knowing nature of the Buddha, the tower’s base is adorned with decorative eyes pointing in all cardinal directions, past visitors have said that it feels as if the tower is watching you! The Stupa is incredibly beautiful and its surroundings peaceful, it’s hard not to feel relaxed in its presence.

Next up is Pashupatinath. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the largest temple complex in Nepal. Pashupatinath is a living cultural heritage site, one of only few in the world. It is full of life and energy and here you can observe the active participation of people in rituals that are spread throughout the day. There is alot to explore in Pashupatinath including 492 temples, but keep in mind that only Hindus are allowed through the gates of the main temple.

You will have some free time in the afternoon, you can use this time to explore the local area or to rest up and prepare for your first day of trekking!

Today our journey begins! After a quick flight to Pokhara, we will head to our starting point, Milanchowk. After wandering through this lakeside settlement, we begin to leave civilization behind and venture out into the lush landscape. Our ending point for today is Kharpani, which is famed for its natural hot springs, visitors are encouraged to take a dip as the spring is said to contain medicinal properties that are good for the skin. The route to the springs will take us along the banks of, and eventually over the river Seti, through small settlements and into a conservation area within the Annapurna mountain range before finally reaching Kharpani.

We hope you feel well rested after your first night on the trail, today we are heading to the village of Ghale Gaon! This part of the trek includes fantastic views of Boudha Himal, Himalchuli and Manaslu in the east, Mt. Fishtail to the west and Lamjung Himal and Annapurna in the north. Your night stay this evening will be with a host family, the village of Ghale Gaon is well-known for its homestays, with tourists from all over the world coming here and staying with the incredibly welcoming locals. The majority of the villages’ inhabitants are of the Gurung ethnic group, this is the group that the famous Gurkha Warriors belong to, so you are sure to hear some interesting stories during your time with them!

Today’s trail is diverse, comprising of an easy stretch beside a river bank, a gentle incline and a steep ascent. You will pass through various small villages until you reach Sikles. The village of Sikles is one of the oldest and largest Gurung settlements in the area, many of its residents actually served in the British and Indian armies! You are sure to enjoy your evening, try and soak up as much of the local culture as you can.

As you head to your next destination, Chasu, you pass through more of the diverse Annapurna landscape. You will pass through quite a few villages today and these are interspersed with stunning hillside and valley views. The route is mainly a descent. On your trip you will pass by a myriad of local flora and fauna, local people and even fellow trekkers. As you reach Chasu in the afternoon, you will notice a temperature difference as well as a change in the surrounding vegetation.

This is the final day of actual trekking upon reaching the end of the trail you will be transported back to Pokhara city. Before you say your goodbyes to this Sikles trail, you have one more exciting day of walking! The trail begins with a steep descent to Rudi stream, which we will cross and then follow for a bit. After this, we will climb allowing you to get a final glimpse of the Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges. Make sure you take many pictures, you won’t want to forget these views.
